Regardless of where you are, you’ve likely heard of a case of COVID-19 in your area at this point. It’s unavoidable and will continue to be so.
The World Health Organization officially declared a pandemic on March 11, 2020. For European nationals, travel from Europe to the United States is suspended for 30 days effective today, March 13, 2020. COVID-19 has been found in a majority of U.S. states and in 117 countries. As of this writing, there are over 141,000 confirmed cases and over 5,300 deaths. There are over 70,000 recoveries and approximately 65,000 cases that are still unresolved.
The numbers change quickly because the virus is spreading at an unprecedented pace. Go HERE for an up-to-date map and number tally.
Domestically in the United States and in some other countries, testing is ramping up but is still limited – meaning that there are many more cases that will be discovered in the near future as more tests occur. In some areas of the United States and in parts of Europe and Asia, schools are closing temporarily or classes are being held online, events are being canceled, and quarantines of various severity are being performed.
If you live in the United States, you may access official CDC information HERE.
You’ll also want to review any information provided by your state government. New York, Washington, and California have been areas of concern; Washington, D.C., Boston, Florida, and Texas are rapidly joining them. Other states have large hidden outbreaks that are not yet visible in the media. Many cities and states have declared states of emergency. On March 13, 2020, President Trump declared a national emergency in the United States.
I wrote an e-mail and a blog post a couple of weeks ago about preparing for what’s to come; in that post, I shared my personal tips for illness prevention and for basic preparation. If you missed that post or would like to review it, you can read it HERE.
Please take this situation seriously and take basic precautions for your family.
Ensure that you have at least some food and water on hand and that you’ve stocked up on essential medicine as much as you can. Boost your immunity through supplements and immune boosters like Vitamin C, Zinc, Vitamin D, Quercetin, oregano oil, and elderberry syrup. Make sure that you have basic medical supplies and sundries on hand. Eat a healthy and varied diet, drink plenty of water, and get enough sleep. Consider canceling events if you’re hosting or attending, and if schools aren’t closed in your area, look at your options for removing your children from school or daycare at least until more is known about your community’s level of infection. Wash your hands and don’t touch your face, but also be extremely conscious of your surroundings and use personal protective equipment to the extent that you’re able.
I’ve been receiving information on this for quite some time now and it is a very serious situation, even more serious than what you’re now seeing. Please make sure that you and your family are prepared physically, mentally, and spiritually for what’s to come. Focus on adapting as new information comes to light, and make sure that you stay connected to an information source of some kind.
I can’t stress enough how important it is to stay informed, keep your energy and vibration high, and keep your fear to a minimum.
